Well we are now nestling under the mountains awaiting our fate. They look gigantic from here! Tomorrow it is Alpe d’Huez we are aiming to do a loop via the Col De Sarenne. Feeling nervous now especially seeing all the fit young cyclists from all around the world that are here! I look the oldest but no doubt some old chap will glide by me on the way up! Update tomorrow night!

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Well this is it! We are off tomorrow so this may be my last blog for a week or so depending on Wi -Fi access at the camp site. The van is semi packed still have to fit in George’s stuff. All being well Alpe d’Huez is on the Monday and other mountains Tuesday and Wednesday if the body is OK? Clare is off to see Monet’s garden mid-week she is on a jaunt with Barbara a friend. So anyone trying to book a gig in the next few days I may not be able get back to you till around 15th/16th; you can email me or leave a message on the phone.
Had a lovely welcome and response at my gig in Birmingham on Wednesday. early disaster was there was an accident on the M 42 so got caught in traffic (journey took twice as long as I anticipated. The Shakespeare story got its first airing. I missed a few bits but feel it has potential for future development.
Yesterday we popped down to Exeter to pick up Dave’s stuff. We went to see a theatre group do a lovely production of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in the cathedral. We moved around the cathedral for different scenes. It was an original telling with a mix of media.
Au Revoir!!!!!
Thunder on the Mountain
The nearest song title (thanks Bob) to what is on my mind! Getting close to leaving for the Alps for our cycle ride. So nervous excitement is building, I have been taking it easy on the bike this week. George and I set off on Saturday and we meet our David at the campsite on Sunday night. We are collecting David’s bike from Exeter on Thursday (so we can take it out in the van) and we are going to see Gawain and the Green Knight with Dave and Vicky.
Actually managed to play a game of cricket yesterday. I did manage 28 but wasn’t really timing the ball, it has been nearly a month since I played because of the weather!
Off to Birmingham tomorrow for a gig. doing the Shakespeare story I have mentioned previously and First World War story I haven’t done before.
